Wildflowers at Chautauqua Bottoms in Carbondale

This time, the goal was just to go for a walk with Lucy and keep her happy (which usually means keeping moving).  We headed to Chautauqua Bottoms Nature Preserve, one of several properties in Carbondale managed by Green Earth.  I left the tripod, diffusers, reflectors, and other burdensome photography gear at home and only brought the point-and-shoot camera and my phone for photos.

We had a nice walk with the jogger stroller from Chautauqua Road up to the wildflower glade via Maurice Webb Trail and then the Woodland Spur Trail.  The plethora of bluebells on the Woodland Spur Trail was genuinely impressive and rivaled wildflower stands at the other two prior destinations (Rocky Bluff and Gum Springs).  We also saw over a dozen other wildflower species just on the short little walk through the prairie and the "glade" and I'm sure that someone who was really on the hunt for them could find more.

We then took a walk down through the bottomlands via the other half of the Maurice Webb Trail (a bit bumpy with the stroller) and across the ADA bridge, ending up on the west side of the creek.  The David Kenney Trail that runs along the creek was covered with phlox flowers.
